The Surgical Outcomes Club AcademyHealth Travel Scholarship provides an avenue for young investigators to attend the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (June 4-7, 2022), and gain experience and knowledge in the fields of surgical outcomes and health services research.
Scholarship Highlights: Two applicants will be provided a one-time travel scholarship, which will provide them an opportunity to attend the upcoming Annual Research Meeting (ARM), as well as the Surgical and Perioperative Care Interest Group Annual Meeting in June. The maximum award is $2,000, and should be used for travel expenses - such as airfare, accommodations up to 5 nights, transportation, and meals.
Objectives: The AcademyHealth ARM shares important findings, showcases the latest evidence, and moves research into action to improve health and healthcare. The goal of this scholarship is to provide an opportunity to a trainee or junior faculty member who is not already planning on attending, or has not attended the AcademyHealth ARM due to financial limitations.
Requirements:
Attend the AcademyHealth ARM on Saturday, June 4 - 7, 2022.
Attend the Surgical and Perioperative Care Interest Group (IG) Annual Meeting (Sunday, June 5 8 am - 930 am).
Awarded applicant(s) must not have an abstract accepted for presentation at the AcademyHealth ARM.
Awarded applicant(s) to provide a one-page summary of their experience following the meetings.
Who May Apply? Members of the Surgical Outcomes Club who are interested in pursuing surgical outcomes and health services research, but have never attended and do not already have an abstract accepted for presentation at the AcademyHealth ARM may apply for the travel scholarship.
Application Process
Applicants must submit the application for along with the following:
Current copy of your curriculum vitae
A one-page statement of interest, including:
Description of current surgical outcomes research responsibilities, activities, and interest
Previously published and/or presented surgical outcomes research
Importance of travel funds to your research and professional advancement
Letter of Support from department chair documenting support for attendance
Proof of active membership status
